How a Virginia nonprofit gained bipartisan support with David Poole

In 1997, journalist David Poole launched a one-employee nonprofit to shine light on a blind spot in Virginia’s lax campaign finance system. Over the next quarter century, the Virginia Public Access Project assumed an increasingly larger role in state politics. David Poole has written a book called Trusted Source about how the organization revolutionized political transparency in Virginia. He’ll talk about it at tomorrow night’s Books & Brews at Pale Fire Brewing in Harrisonburg. WMRA’s Chris Boros asked David to talk about starting the organization.

Chris Boros is WMRA’s Program Director and local host from 10am-4pm Monday-Friday.
