CANCELED - WMRA Books & Brews May 13, 2020

Unfortunately, due to Virginia's current 'Stay at Home' order and continued concerns about spreading COVID-19, our special May 2020 Books & Brews, featuring Jennifer Ackerman discussing her book, The Bird way: A New Look at How Birds talk, work, play, Parent, and Think, has been canceled.

A radical investigation into the bird way of being, and the recent scientific research that is dramatically shifting our understating of birds- how they live and how they think.

WMRA's Books & Brews series is made possible thanks to the support of Gaines Group Architects, the official sponsor of Books & Brews. The Gaines Group has offices in Charlottesville and Harrisonburg.

Jennifer Ackerman has been writing about science, nature, and human biology for almost three decades. Ackerman is the recipient of a National Endowment for the Arts Literature Fellowship in Nonfiction, a Bunting Fellowship, and a grant from the Alfred P. Sloan Foundation.

Martin was born in Kenya and moved to Harrisonburg, Virginia, in 2013 to pursue his education at James Madison University, where he earned a Bachelor’s degree in Integrated Science and Technology in 2017. Martin joined WMRA shortly after graduation in August 2017.
