CANCELED - Bonus Books & Brews March 20

Due to inclement weather, Journalist Sam Quinones cannot attend our Bonus Books and Brews event. Storyteller, former LA Times reporter, and author Sam Quinones was scheduled to discuss his most recent book, Dreamland: The True Tale of America’s Opiate Epidemic at a Bonus March Books & Brews. And unfortunately, we will not be able to reschedule this event.

CANCELED - Tuesday, March 20th, 2018 at 6pm, at Pale Fire Brewing Company in Harrisonburg.

Sam Quinones is a journalist, storyteller, former LA Times reporter, and author of three acclaimed books of narrative nonfiction. His most recent book is Dreamland: The True Tale of America’s Opiate Epidemic by Bloomsbury Press.

  

  His career as a journalist has spanned almost 30 years. He lived for 10 years as a freelance writer in Mexico, where he wrote his first two books. In 2004, he returned to the United States to work for the L.A. Times, covering immigration, drug trafficking, neighborhood stories, and gangs.

Martin Mayiani was born in Kenya and moved to Harrisonburg, Virginia, in 2013 to pursue his education at James Madison University. He earned a bachelor’s degree in Integrated Science and Technology in 2017 and later completed a Master of Business Administration (MBA), making him a proud Double Duke. Martin joined WMRA shortly after his undergraduate graduation in August 2017 and currently serves as an Operations Specialist.
