Stephen Grant was laid off in March of 2020 after getting a cancer diagnosis. He needed health insurance fast, so he became a letter carrier in rural Virginia where he grew up. Stephen’s new book Mailman is a tribute to the simple heroism of daily service, and the challenge and pleasure of coming home after twenty-five years away. Stephen is our guest for Books & Brews at Pale Fire Brewing in Harrisonburg on Tuesday, April 14, 2026, at 7pm. WMRA’s Chris Boros asked Stephen to talk about his journey as a rural mail carrier.
