Local GOP Representatives Cline and Good Vote Against January 6 Probe

NPR reports the House has passed a bipartisan plan to create a 9/11-style commission to investigate the Jan. 6 insurrection at the U.S. Capitol, despite significant opposition from Republican lawmakers, including all of those from Virginia.

In Wednesday's vote, 35 Republicans broke with party leaders to vote in favor of the commission.  The vote among Virginia's congressional delegation split along party lines.  All Virginia Democrats voted in favor of the commission.  All Republicans, including 6th District Rep. Ben Cline and 5th District Rep. Bob Good, voted against it.

The bill now goes to the U.S. Senate, where GOP Minority Leader Mitch McConnell announced his opposition.
