CANCELED - AMBER Alert: Harrisonburg Child Abduction

Amber Alert Canceled at 1:18pm Monday May 4th.

Brianna Aylin Reyes-Cardoza, who was abducted at approximately 8:45 am. at her residence in Harrisonburg this morning has been located safe and sound.

The Harrisonburg Police Department with the assistance of the Virginia State Police (VSP) Charlottesville Police Dept. (CPD), Albemarle County Sheriff’s Office (ACSO), and the Staunton Police Department (SPD) located the child with her biological father early this afternoon in Charlottesville, Va.

Mr. Reyes-Paz has been taken into custody and is charged with misdemeanor parental abduction, felony attempted abduction remove from state, and felony abuse/neglect of child.

HPD’s Major Crimes Unit continues the investigation.

The Virginia State Police (VSP) has issued an A.M.B.E.R. Alert for 3-year-old Brianna Aylin Reyes-Cardoza who was abducted this morning at approximately 8:30 am. from her home in Harrisonburg.

Brianna is described as a Hispanic female, black hair, brown eyes, and 3’ 00” tall and 36 lbs. She was last seen this morning at her residence in the 1600 block of S. Burkwood Ct., Harrisonburg.

She was last seen wearing a red short sleeved shirt with Minnie Mouse on the front, pink shorts, and pink sandals.

It is believed that she is in the company of her biological father, Jose Reyes-Paz, who is described as a 30-year-old Hispanic male, with black hair and brown eyes, 5’ 6” tall, with a thin to medium build.

Reyes-Paz apparently picked up the child up at the residence in an unknown vehicle and may possibly be heading on Interstate 64. Mr. Reyes-Paz has ties to the Charlottesville/Albemarle Co. area as well as California.  

Mr. Reyes-Paz is currently wanted for Child Abduction. Reyes was last seen wearing a white T-shirt, black pants, and a black beanie cap.

HPD’s Patrol and Major Crimes Unit (MCU) are investigating. Anyone with information on the immediate whereabouts of Brianna and Jose Reyes-Paz is asked to call 911 immediately.
