WWII Warbirds Landing at SHD!
WWII Warbirds Landing at SHD!
There are some experiences that go beyond simply attending an event; they give you the chance to step into history, hear it, feel it, and even take flight in it.
On May 16th & 17th, we invite you to do just that as we welcome the Capital Wing of the Commemorative Air Force for a special Warbird Expo and Fly-In in celebration of America 250! This event offers a rare opportunity for our community to connect with aviation history in a meaningful, hands-on way. These are fully operational World War II-era aircraft, each with its own story and legacy!
This unique event will feature several World War II-era aircraft, including:
• TBM Avenger torpedo bomber
• Boeing PT-17 Stearman open-cockpit biplane
• Fairchild UC-61 Forwarder
• Alouette II jet-powered helicopter
Warbird rides will be available for purchase, giving aviation enthusiasts and history lovers the chance to take flight in these iconic aircraft. Due to limited availability, attendees are encouraged to reserve rides in advance. Any remaining seats will be available for purchase on-site.
In addition to flight experiences, visitors can enjoy:
• Static aircraft displays, including a rare Japanese Fuji LM-1 and a classic ERCO Ercoupe
• Interactive exhibits like a B-26 machine-gun turret and T-33 jet ejection seat
• Delicious food and treats from Battarbee’s Catering Buggy, PrePOPsterous Gourmet Popcorn, and Kona Ice of Harrisonburg
• Aviation-themed merchandise from the Capital Wing PX trailer
We look forward to welcoming you to SHD for an unforgettable weekend of aviation, history, and hands-on experiences!
