Vermicomposting to Enrich Your Soil

Vermicomposting to Enrich Your Soil

Composting with earthworms (vermicomposting) in an enclosed container can turn food waste into a nutrient-rich soil amendment. At 2 p.m. Saturday, May 20, the Piedmont Master Gardeners and Virginia Cooperative Extension will offer “Vermicomposting to Enrich Your Soil,” a free Garden Basics presentation. This in-person program will be held at Trinity Episcopal Church, 1118 Preston Avenue in Charlottesville. Space is limited. To reserve a place in the class, register at https://piedmontmastergardeners.org/events/. Registration closes at 5 p.m. May 19 or when the class is full. Participants will learn how to set up a vermicomposting system, how to feed the worms and harvest the castings, and where to go for resources and supplies. Garden Basics is a partnership with the Bread and Roses ministry at Trinity Church.
