Three Notch'd Road Presents "Sacred Harp: English, Irish & American Christmas"
For Christmas, Three Notch'd Road returns to its specialty: early American hymnody and its roots in the Old World. The program will interweave music of the British Isles and America to celebrate the season with works from "The Sacred Harp" (1844), an American shape note masterpiece developed from early rural English church music.
Sheila Dietrich (soprano), with Fiona Hughes (baroque violin), Anne Timberlake (recorders), Benjamin Geier (tenor), Jared Swope (bass), Ryan Lowe (baroque cello), and Cameron Welke (lute & theorbo).
