Shenandoah Valley Art Center Exhibit: Karen K. Rosasco: Real and Imagined, Part 2

Shenandoah Valley Art Center Exhibit: Karen K. Rosasco: Real and Imagined, Part 2

The Shenandoah Valley Art Center during the month of March, in the Cabell/Arehart Invitational Gallery, is presenting an exhibition featuring works by Karen K. Rosasco, a nationally recognized mixed-media artist who retired from teaching high school art after 31 years. She continued to teach adult education and week-long workshops across the US and Canada. Rosasco formed a company, Art Escapes, where she led art history and sketching trips for 16 years across 6 continents. Having been an art teacher all her life and instructing students in many methods and styles, Karen's work reveals a love of something fresh all the time instead of just one signature style. She finds her themes and motivations in nature and memories of the over 80 countries that she has visited in her travels. Many works include layers of collage that are hidden under the paint or textures created by splashing powdered charcoal. All of the paintings are created by layering thin coats of transparent fluid acrylics before applying more opaque layers and line work. An avid shape-maker, Karen concentrates on the relationships between the basic elements of art such as shape, form, value, color, line, texture and space. Her work is collected by major corporations such as General Electric, local institutions, three area hospitals and the University of VA plus hundreds of private homes. The exhibition, REAL AND IMAGINED, PART 2, will be open to the public March 1- 30, Tuesday – Saturday, 10:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m. at 126 S Wayne Ave, Waynesboro, VA 22980.
