Shenandoah Valley Art Center Class: Coptic Stitch Bookbinding

Shenandoah Valley Art Center Class: Coptic Stitch Bookbinding
Shenandoah Valley Art Center presents: Coptic Stitch Bookbinding with Lana Lambert. Coptic stitch is a great open spine binding method for creating hardbound journals and sketchbooks at home. Standing the test of time, this ancient method of bookbinding can be bound without a sewing frame and lays flat on the surface when opened. Students will create their own book as well as learn the basics of bookbinding practice. All materials are included with tools available for in-class use. This design can be adapted to a variety of papers including lightweight watercolor, sketchbook paper, or writing papers. Lana Lambert is an illustrator, printmaker, and designer from Nelson County, VA. Educated at the Corcoran College of Art and Design in Washington D.C., she also earned her master’s in graphic design from Vermont College of Fine Art. She enjoys sharing insights into improving your relationship with the arts, the benefits of creative practice in life, and how to best improve your creative practice.
