Resilient Together: Our Community’s Response To Climate Change

Resilient Together: Our Community’s Response To Climate Change

Learn actions being taken locally to address climate change, and how we can all participate! Hosting the event is the League of Women Voters of the Charlottesville Area's Natural Resource Committee.

Whether it is massive flooding in Asheville, raging fires in Los Angeles, or the steady rise of sea level in Norfolk, the effects of climate change are evident everywhere. Global warming is placing life on our planet in peril, but our community can make decisions to reduce the risks and improve our well-being and security.

This free online presentation will explain how the City of Charlottesville and Albemarle County are planning to mitigate and adapt to climate change, and how everyone can get involved in the process. Emily Irvine, Charlottesville’s Climate Program Manager in the Office of Sustainability, and Jamie Powers, Albemarle’s Climate Action Program Manager (interim), will describe City and County climate goals, action steps, and the progress made thus far.
