Presenting A Forage Walk: A Demonstration Field Day of Double Cropping

Smith Creek Watershed Partnership(Partnership) is presenting A Forage Walk: A Demonstration Field Day with partners Alliance for the Shenandoah Valley, Natural Resources Conservation Service (NRCS) and Soil and Water Conservation District(SWCD) on October 24, 10:00 am at 460 Garbers Church Rd, Harrisonburg,VA.
The Partnership has been working together to help implement new farming techniques to gain valuable insight in ways to reduce overall sediment and nutrients from reaching the watershed. While increasing overall productivity and decreasing cost for the landowner. This demonstration farmer has implemented a double cropping system of planting a cover crop of barley into an already established alfalfa stand.
