Native Plant Propagation—Seed Saving and Winter Sowing

At 2 p.m. Saturday, October 21, the Piedmont Master Gardeners and Virginia Cooperative Extension will present “Native Plant Propagation—Seed Saving and Winter Sowing,” a free Garden Basics class at Trinity Episcopal Church, 1118 Preston Avenue in Charlottesville. To reserve a place in the class, register at http://piedmontmastergardeners.org/events/. Registration closes at 5 p.m. October 20 or when the class is full. Participants will learn about seed collection and resources for buying native seeds, various techniques for preparing native seeds for sowing, and growing techniques for winter and spring and for outdoors and indoors. The class will also feature a hands-on seed preparation activity, and participants will go home with milk jug planters and seeds. Garden Basics is a partnership with the Bread and Roses ministry at Trinity Episcopal Church.
