Language of Love Sculpture Installation Celebration

Language of Love Sculpture Installation Celebration

Let's (finally) celebrate downtown’s latest sculpture installation – Language of Love - the newest addition to Harrisonburg's public art collection!

Located by the Turner Pavilion behind the Arts Council's Smith House Galleries and designed for community members to play and interact with, Language of Love celebrates what local students and their families shared with the artist about what they love about Harrisonburg and value about living in the Friendly City – from the natural beauty surrounding our Valley town to our welcoming spirit and inclusivity.

We invite you to participate in the unveiling of the sculpture's sign and to enjoy light refreshments while interacting with the sculpture and celebrating this amenity. Hear from the artist, Jeff Guinn, about his vision behind this work of art and how he built it and join us as we thank the many volunteers and supporters who made this possible.

A true community effort - this installation was generously funded by 2016 HDR Renaissance Night Individual Donors; sponsors Riner Rentals, F&M Bank, Mint Construction, The Frame Factory, and Excel Steel Works; in-kind donors Herr & Co., Fine Earth, Shenandoah Paint, R.S. Monger & Sons, Rocktown Urban Wood, Willow Run Custom Lumber, Knoched VA, Black Forest Sawmill; and supporters of HDR's Friendly City Fortune raffle and ACV's Advancing the Arts Grant program. Language of Love was made possible through the support of the City of Harrisonburg, Harrisonburg City Public Schools, as well as 100+ community volunteers. This project was led by Harrisonburg Downtown Renaissance and the Arts Council of the Valley.

Since the event will be outdoors, please mark your calendars for Thursday, May 26th at 4 pm for our rain date. Those who rsvp to this event will receive an email update should weather postpone our plans.
