This coming January, the Newtown Neighborhood–and the whole City, in fact– will be eating well thanks to the return of the indoor Winter Farmers Market at Emmanuel Episcopal Church on Frederick Street in Staunton. Local farmers and food artisans will offer everything from greens to meats to breads to freshly roasted coffee.
This indoor market bridges the gap between the close of the regular Staunton Farmers Market in December and its reopening in April and allows the community to eat well through the winter, catch up with neighbors and support local business all in one weather-proof location.
Participants this year include familiar favorites such as Poplar Ridge Produce, Anathallo Acres, Wild Altar Farm, Rachel Jane’s Jam & Berries, Happ Coffee Roasters, PrePOPsterious Gourmet Popcorn, Santiago Chocolates, Thorny Bottom Bees, Ballerino Creamery, Mill Gap Maple, Quince & Burdock Flowers, Bake Haus Bakery, Dickie Brothers Orchards, and Suzanna’s Confections as well as a number of fresh faces including Simon & Tuesday Skincare, Wild Yeast Bake Shoppe and (if we’re lucky) a fresh seafood vendor.
Last year’s Indoor Farmers Market was a sparkling success with hundreds of customers gathering goods each week and dozens of local businesses benefiting from this off-season outlet. The combination of fresh food, sometimes live music and friendly faces makes this an obvious Saturday outing for the whole family (though no dogs, please). As a reminder, Emmanuel Episcopal Church’s Fellowship Hall is wheelchair accessible.
Saturday: 09:00 AM - 12:00 PM
