At 6:30 p.m. Tuesday, February 6, The Center at Belvedere will host a presentation by Claire Denton-Spalding of the Piedmont Master Gardeners on “How and Why to Grow Hedgerows.” The Center is at 540 Belvedere Blvd. in Charlottesville. Register for the free program here! Popularized in the United Kingdom, hedgerows are living fences made of trees and shrubs that support a diversity of birds, mammals, and insects. The presentation will cover the history of hedgerows, their benefits to native plants and animals, and how best to plant and maintain them in the Piedmont area.
