Join us to learn about Juniper Hill Commons, Harrisonburg's new environmentally-friendly, socially-oriented, 27-home multi-generational neighborhood! Construction starts when we have enough homes reserved.

JHC is being built by Harrisonburg Cohousing, a group of artsy, sustainably-minded, social-justice oriented, garden-growing, fun-loving folks who are mostly introverts. Even so, we're looking forward to common meals, fire-pit chats, art parties, movie watching, lego building, garden-growing and just chillin' on the front porches together.

Juniper Hill Commons will be a cohousing neighborhood, which is a neighborhood type designed to foster and support fun and meaningful interactions between neighbors. Homes are privately owned, but neighbors share common spaces, like a large clubhouse (called the common house), playground, gardening, workshop and open green areas. Cars are parked on the periphery, which keeps the neighborhood center pleasant and safe for children and other pedestrians.

One of the many perks of cohousing: Most cohousing neighborhoods share optional meals 2-4 times a week in the common house, which cuts down on individual meal prep time, and allows neighbors to try each other's favorite foods and enjoy conversation together over a meal.
