Global Humanitarian Week: Giles Duley

Global Humanitarian Week: Giles Duley
In 2011, while photographing civilians caught up in the conflict in Afghanistan, Duley was severely injured by an improvised explosive device, losing both legs and his left arm.
Today, Duley is the founder of the Legacy of War Foundation. Through a variety of global projects, the Foundation seeks to challenge the neo-colonial concepts in the aid sector and whose mission is to “help individuals and communities rebuild their own lives after the trauma of war” through empowerment and advocacy. In addition to his photography and foundation, Duley is currently filming a documentary series in which he cooks with families in countries devastated by war, most recently in Ukraine.
