Beginner Bonsai with Danny Coffey

Beginner Bonsai with Danny Coffey

Perfect for beginners, this workshop will increase your confidence with bonsai and provide a hands-on opportunity for learning. This two hour class begins with an art and cultural history tour of bonsai. Participants will then learn how to repot and wire a tree as well as practice bending and shaping techniques. The class concludes with a discussion about how to care for your tree once you get home.

Daniel Coffey’s bonsai are a slightly avant-garde blend inspired by traditional Japanese, rugged American and whimsical Chinese styles of the plant-based art form. Although bonsai has gained popularity among plant hobbyists, it is still often considered difficult and unapproachable by many. However, with a basic skills foundation and understanding of the art form and medium, it doesn't have to be!

Cost: $90 includes professional instruction + materials (ceramic pot, tree, soil). Students leave with their own potted Bonsai!
