Author Talk: Dr. Robert K. Musil, author, Rachel Carson and Her Sisters

Dr. Robert K. Musil, national environmental leader, advocate and author of Rachel Carson and Her Sisters: Extraordinary Women Who Have Shaped America’s Environment, will discuss the contemporary relevance of Rachel Carson’s environmental ethic that combines imagination, awe, wonder, and empathy for the natural world and all species, including humanity, with rigorous scientific observation and research.

This is part of a larger set of events centered around Rachel Carson’s Silent Spring that will take place during spring 2023 as part of A Book for the ‘Burg, a community-wide reading and engagement effort organized by the JMU Institute for Stewardship of the Natural World along with partners including JMU Libraries, College of Visual and Performing Arts and Edith J. Carrier Arboretum, Massanutten Regional Library, and EMU Library.

Parking: Community visitors can park in JMU lots D1, D2, or C10 between 4 and 8pm on February 28. No parking permits or vouchers are necessary.
