Several localities have set up cooling centers for people who need relief from this week's record-breaking heat and humidity. Here is our list so far:
In Albemarle County:

Tuesday, June 24 and Wednesday, June 25: 9 AM to 6 PM
The lobbies of both county office buildings, at 401 McIntire Road and 1600 5th Street in Charlottesville, and county libraries are also open to the public. Entrance fees will be waived at the county's public swimming beaches on Tuesday and Wednesday.
In Charlottesville:
Herman Key Jr Recreation Center, 800 E Market Street
Monday - Friday: 12 PM to 9 PM
Saturday and Sunday: 1 PM to 6 PM
Jefferson Madison Regional Library Central Branch, 201 E Market Street
Monday - Thursday: 9 AM to 9 PM
