After more than a year of debate over the details, Harrisonburg says a final design for a new skatepark is complete. The city began work on the new park in March 2023, but paused the project after skaters complained about the use of steel rather than concrete in the obstacles. The new design includes quarterpipes, handrails and other obstacles, set around a concrete pad. The city said construction of the 85-hundred square-foot structure at Westover Park will begin in October and should be complete by summer 2025.
