Eight people injured in Harrisonburg shooting

A Harrisonburg man has been arrested after eight people were injured in a shooting in Harrisonburg early Sunday morning.

The Daily News Record reports that police arrested Tyreaf Isaiah Fleming, age 20, Sunday afternoon. He faces attempted murder and other charges.

The city said that just around 2:20 am, someone fired into an outdoor gathering on Devon Lane, an area north of campus where many James Madison University students live. The injured were taken to local hospitals. City spokesperson Michael Parks said no students were injured. No suspects were on the scene when officers arrived and police said they are looking into whether there was more than one shooter.
