Shenandoah Valley Art Center Class: The Art of Embroidery with Sherri Ciszek
Shenandoah Valley Art Center presents: The Art of Embroidery with Sherri Ciszek! Textile arts, also known as fiber art, encompasses a wide range of artistic expressions using fibers to create artworks. They are tactile and visual, comforting and inspiring. This hand embroidery class is a beginner friendly introduction to the art of decorative stitching, covering essential techniques, materials, and projects. It allows you to create beautiful embroidery pieces in and of themselves, or as an integral tool for mixed media. Students will learn fundamental embroidery stitches like running stitch, backstitch, and satin stitch. Gain an understanding of the basics of embroidery hoops, floss, needles, and fabric types. Discover how to transfer patterns onto fabric for accurate embroidery or freestyle without a pattern! We'll create a sampler or another small project to practice your new skills. Fabric and necessary supplies will be provided, but feel free to bring an article of your choice to embroider a design onto. Sherri Ciszek has been an artist and teacher for nearly 40 years. She is proficient in a variety of media and particularly enjoys mixed media.
