Finding the Poetry in the Prose with Anne Marie Wells

Finding the Poetry in the Prose with Anne Marie Wells

Anne Marie Wells' memoir-in-verse, Survived By, began as a series of personal blog posts that she transformed into a collection of poetry. Exploring the work of Jacqueline Woodson, Kwame Alexander, and Elizabeth Acevedo as well as the poetry of Hanif Abdurraqib, Kate Baer, Danielle Mitchell, torrin a. greathouse, and others, participants will observe how enjambment, caesura, erasure, concrete poetry, and poetic form can be employed to find poetry where there once was prose. Ages 13+ and adults. Saturday, Nov. 4, 10am-12pm, Staunton Public Library , 2nd Floor Meeting Room
