Highland County’s Rick Lambert is a project caver. Rick has been caving for decades and tells about some of the changes along the way --and about the joys of mucking about in the mud while wearing a hard hat. In Monterey, Virginia, he runs Highland Adventure, a outdoor-exploring resource that organizes caving expeditions, mountain bike trips, and rock climbs --while also sometimes teaching outdoor skills like survival-foraging. Rick sometimes leads college groups into caves; for the risk of injury always associated with rough caving, he is a state-certified EMT with cave-rescue experience.
