Who Needs Real Birds?

A beautiful and disturbing new children's book set in the year 2031 by visual artist Kate Samworth raises awareness of species extinction.  Kate's book, called Aviary Wonders Inc, a dystopian future fantasy catalog of artificial "birds" (real ones having died out) which can be custom assembled. Book publisher Houghton Mifflin Harcourt released an amusing YouTube "commercial" advertising the catalog to "future" shoppers. The book is also fodder for teachable moments about bird anatomy like the structural differences between wading, perching, and swimming bird body types.
