Southern Unionists

Sometimes history needs correcting. Or maybe it is more accurate to say that our understanding of some historical facts may need adjustment.

Take the idea that, during America’s Civil War, Southerners were united in their support of the Confederacy and its aims.

A Virginia historian says he has uncovered much evidence that, in fact, Southerners who opposed secession and supported the North played a key role in the War Between the States.  That evidence is presented in the new book Rebels Against the Confederacy.
