WMRA is partnering with the JMU Forbes Center for an exciting new showcase celebrating five female singer-songwriters from Virginia.

Hosted by Tina Owens from WMRA's Acoustic Cafe, each artist will perform several original songs and share the personal stories behind their creation.

This inaugural event is sponsored by Cross Keys Studio in Port Republic.

Gina Furtado: Gina Furtado was born and raised in Front Royal, Virginia, and began touring up and down the east coast in her tween years with her siblings, earning countless ribbons from fiddlers conventions, a strong reputation in the regional bluegrass scene, and a stamp from Bluegrass Today as “absurdly talented.” She now fronts the Gina Furtado Project and is based in Asheville, NC.

Suz Slezak: Suz Slezak, with her husband David Wax, founded the eclectic, exuberant “Mexo-Americana” band David Wax Museum. Suz is coming out wih a new solo album very soon and will be sharing some of her songs on stage.

Erin LunsfordErin Lunsford is an award-winning singer, songwriter, and multi-instrumentalist originally from Fincastle, Va and now living in Richmond

Ebony NicoleEbony Nicole is an east coast singer songwriter that resides in Harrisonburg, Va. She was born in Tacoma, WA and has lived in NJ, NYC, Seattle, Wa and spent a summer studying worship music in Australia.

Molly Murphy: Molly Murphy is a founding member of The Judy Chops based in Harrisonburg, Va. Their unique take on Americana is a fusion of modern and vintage musical styles, blending elements of swing, blues, rock, and soul for a sonic experience Huffington Post calls 'genre-defying!'
