Senator Mark Warner Calls For Shinseki to Resign

Virginia Senator Mark Warner yesterday called for the resignation of Veterans Affairs Secretary Eric Shinseki.

The statement on Senator Warner's website says that: “Gen. Shinseki has served our country with distinction. I now believe he should step aside in order to allow our focus and our efforts to be on making the critically needed changes to fix the V.A.”

Bob Leweke spoke with Senator Warner by phone and asked him what those changes might be, and why Shinseki’s resignation is necessary.  Senator Warner also talked about kicking off his re-election campaign with stops in Harrisonburg, Charlottesville and Winchester, and even about his February appearance on the NPR quiz show "Wait Wait... Don't Tell Me."

Bob Leweke is WMRA's News Director and Morning Edition host.
