Shenandoah Valley Art Center Exhibit: The 43rd Annual Virginia Watercolor Society Exhibit
The Shenandoah Valley Art Center, during the month of July, in the Cabell/Arehart Invitational Gallery, is presenting The 43rd Annual Exhibition by the Virginia Watercolor Society. Organized in 1979, the Virginia Watercolor Society is a highly reputed organization of artists and non-painters which seek to foster interest and participation in the exciting world of watercolor through its publications, demonstrations, artist’s juried exhibitions and social activities. The exhibition showcases the skill and diversity of Virginia Artists working with watermedia. Ninety-nine artists were juried into the show by esteemed watercolor artist, Paul Jackson, who discovered his passion for watercolor at Mississippi State University. He received a Master of Fine Arts degree in Missouri, and has since been relentless in the pursuit of his creative dreams, receiving top honors in national and international competitions. Jackson was honored by the American Watercolor Society with a signature membership at the age of 30, and more recently the Dolphin Fellowship - the highest honor in watercolor. He is also a Signature member of the National Watercolor Society and an Honor Member of the Missouri Watercolor Society.
