Award winning Harrisonburg author Sofia Samatar often sets her stories in other worlds. In her latest book, The Practice, the Horizon and the Chain, a science fiction novella set in a university attached to a prison in space, Samatar deals with issues concerning access and diversity in higher education, but through the veil of a space adventure.
