Now that the polls are closed and most of the ballots counted, civic engagement groups are hosting a discussion in Winchester this Thursday about what comes next. WMRA's Randi B. Hagi reports.

The League of Women Voters of the Northern Shenandoah Valley is joining forces with the organizations UpVoteVA and BigMoneyOutVA for the event "Democracy is Brewing in Winchester." Representatives from each nonpartisan group will participate in a roundtable discussion about big money in politics, redistricting, and voting rights.
PAT WIRTH: We would like our audience to learn more about key democracy issues, to understand better the legislative process of our General Assembly and how that works, to identify how citizens can take action and make a difference in the 2024 legislative session that's going to be coming up.
Pat Wirth is the president of the local chapter of the League of Women Voters, which just formed earlier this year.
WIRTH: This program is for adults. This program is going to be aimed towards students, both in high school and in college, and their teachers and professors. We're casting a wide net here, because it's all about sharing information.
The event is at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday at the Handley Library. Participants are encouraged to register ahead of time.
